In the street of the same name stands Hotel Tejadillo, made up of three houses from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.
The light-colored façade and the less frivolous décor, combine with the more urban architecture to pique one’s curiosity about this hotel’s background. Seated in one of the two patios, the answer comes unexpectedly when a trio of nuns appear in the courtyard; they explain that they went to college here in 1960 and came back to see their old stomping grounds. Back then, two religious schools operated in this building. The towering tree that keeps the patio perennially shady, a Yagruma, was planted more than fifty years ago by another nun.
Crossing the spacious lobby, you step into another patio, with wrought iron garden furniture and plants in terra cotta pots. Some guests prefer to take breakfast here instead of the restaurant.
Despite the earlier religious and scholastic character, the hotel owns a bar and although it looks like a Spanish Tavern, Cuban live music can be heard daily here.
