Designated as a local tangible property, this hanok was inhabited by Sim Sang-gwang (pen name Songjeong), the second son of Sim Ho-taek. Sim Ho-taek was the 7th generation descendant of Sim Cheo-dae, a very wealthy man during the reign of King Yeongjo from the Joseon Dynasty.
Deokcheon Village, where the hanok is located, was selected among the 20 must-visit villages by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Forest and Fisheries. It is the representative village of Cheongsong-gun, which was designated as an international Slow City. Cheongsong is famous for the Juwangsan National Park known for its rugged cliffs and the Jusanji Pond, which was the main setting of the Korean film "Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring".
