Mrs Kim had been very helpful during my stay. When I was a little lost in getting to her Hanok, she was available to help despite the late hour.

Despite both of us being very busy, we could have quick chats and share our memories together. Jun Kyu was a lot of fun, just a shame I could not say goodbye before I left.

Thank you for making my first solo trip adventure so comfortable Mrs Kim. Also thank you for helping me arrange a taxi at such an early hour! 감사합니다

Jihyun and her family were very welcoming and friendly, and she made the effort to welcome me to her house with hot tea, and even helped me look up public transport on places that i wanted to visit! The location is good - in the Bukchon area but not in the very busy parts so it is not so noisy. The hanok itself is located a short walk inside an alleyway so you don't get random people walking by your door either. The room is quite cosy - comfortable enough for one person to sleep, and there is a small attached toilet though even with the amazingly warm floor heating can still be rather chilly if you are not used to bathing in winter, but at least you don't have to walk outside just to use the bathroom! Would recommend any travellers who want to experience a hanok stay :)

We really enjoyed our stay with Jihyun. She was very helpful and assisted us a lot in finding our next meals and in the booking of DMZ. Would really recommend people to stay here. The room is a bit small though. Other than that, the location is fantastic and it was a very enjoyable stay. Thank you so much for your hospitality. Sorry, we had to leave so much in a rush, Jihyun. Take care ~

JiHyun and her family is definitely a good company during our short trip in Seoul. We are blessed to have found this family and staying in hanok was a unique experience.

Apart from great hospitality, it is a great location for cultural indulgence too.. Walking distance to gyeongbuk palace, bukchon village, insa dong etc

I stayed at Ji Hyun's hanok for 2 nights and I really enjoyed my stay. I arrived late at night and it was drizzling but she waited up and came out to the road to pick me with an umbrella. Ji Hyun even prepared hot orange tea for me to warm myself up after I arrived in her hanok.

Ji Hyun has a very cozy and quiet hanok, for those who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city - this hanok is perfect! Ji Hyun is also an amazing cook, so I finished the home-cooked korean meals (all organic and healthy food) that she prepared for me! (I'm missing her cooking now as I am writing this.) Ji Hyun also prepared a really cozy bedroom for me in her pretty hanok. She was also very kind to introduce me to the places of interest around Bukchon Village. Her son, Jun Kyu, was friendly and very cute. He even invited me up to the attic to play transformers and lego with him! I really enjoyed talking and playing with him.

I spent most of my time in Ji Hyun's hanok and had an enjoyable time chatting with Ji Hyun. As I observed how mother and son interact with each other, it brought a touching and warm feeling to my heart.

All in all, lovely and heartwarming family and superb hospitality! I will definitely visit her hanok again!

The host is really a extremely nice lady. The location is also very good but do make sure you get the address correct or it can get a little difficult to locate, but the host will wait for you. The room and toilet is really very small and you can get a little claustrophobic and we had to leave our luggage outside the room. Location wise is great and we love it as an introduction stay in Korea. :) Her son is really cute and he even dance Gangnam style for us on our last day. :D

Being our first time in Korea, Jihyun was very fast in replying all my questions before my actual reservation.
Stayed for 2 nights in March and generally was very satisfied with the location. It was very near the main road where cabs can enter and yet NOT really along the road so you will enjoy some privacy and away from traffic. It was near the subway line and you access to all parts of Seoul :) It was also near the main palace and Insadong as well. There were several eateries and cafes just outside our accomodation although they close rather early being a residential area. On our first day, the hostess very kindly guide the cabbie to the location and gave us ample instructions to her location cos she was busy and couldnt stay in.
The guest room is separated from the main hall / other rooms so we have our private space and a tiny bathroom attached. Thanks to Jihyun and her family (she has a really cute and expressive son ) , we really enjoyed the experience to stay in an traditional hanok.

The Kim's family are very kind especially their lovely son. It was a nice experience to stay at Ms Kim's house and there are a lot site seeing around her house. So you must at least stay 2 nights so as to look around and it's definitly a different atmosphere compare with Myeongdong. The room is very good enought for one but also good for 2 if you 2 are very close friend and you got your own toilet as well. Highly recommend.

We have had a great time in Jiyun family. Mr and Mrs Kim are very nice and welcoming, which makes our stay a very enjoyable one!
On our first day of arrival, it was a freezing night. It was actually a bit hard to figure out the exact location of Jiyun's house as it was not on the Main Street. Yet, Mr and Mrs Kim were kind enough to come out to pick us up when they heard of the luggage sound! The room has been heated up so that we have a good sleep in the ondol room, though it was -5 degree outside ^^ Also thanks Jiyun for the hot citrus tea, it was great! The room is tiny and we need to leave our luggages outside the room, the bathroom is also small, but a very tidy one.
It is a pity that our schedule was fully packed, else it would definitely be a good experience to spend more time with the Kim's family, like having a dinner with them and have some cultural exchange time?? :)
Jungyu is super cute!!!!!!! He is very "busy" at his Lego corner, but we were lucky enough to invite him for a picture finally XD
Finally, we would like to thanks Jiyun and her family for their hospitality! An home stay experience is always much greater than staying at hotel! It is simply uncomparable ! We will visit Seoul and say hi to you soon Jiyun! Have a very happy Lunar New Year!

My mother and I had an enjoyable stay at Jihyun's house. The place was a bit hard to find for the taxi driver as we came from our stay at another hotel. Despite that, we managed to get there thanks to communication between Jihyun and the hotel staffs & taxi driver. The room was a bit small but it was not a problem for my mother and I. The ondol floors were amazing and kept us warm throughout our stay (it was winter and snowed during out last day). We had a problem with the plug since it was rounded and sunken in and our adapters were squared and rectangular shaped. Jihyun was lovely in offering to help us charge our electronic items in her son's room as the socket there wasnt sucken in. Jungyu (Jihyun's son) is a lovely kid and does not shy away from strangers. A particularly precious memory formed when Jungyu braved the cold weather outdoors and requested for a photo with me before my departure :) I would definitely recommend people to stay at Jihyun's place and experience living in a traditional Korean Hanok.

Wishing the best for Jihyun and her family. Take care and God bless :)

Sorry for the late review as I was sick as soon as I arrived in singapore. Anyway, I really enjoyed my stay with Mrs Kim and her family especially with her adorable son whom I called 'Joo Won Jr' cos he looks like the actor of the Bridal Mask & Good Doctor from one of the picture I saw.

We arrived in seoul at night and it was rainning heavily. Both mother and son fetched me and my niece half way to their house. It takes 10 - 15 mins walk to their place from Angkuk St. As shown in the picture, their place is typical korean house. It is cute but the room is too small for 2 person especially if we are coming with big luggage. One person is just nice. I felt the warmness the moment I entered their place. Since we didnt have our dinner, Mrs Kim offered to cook for us instant porridge which we brought plus nice warm tea. Unfortunately the porridge wasn't properly cooked but she substitute for something else. I really appreciate her effort and care. The next morning she prepared us korean style porridge which both me and my niece enjoyed as we love korean food so much.

Sometime I had difficulty in understanding Mrs Kim's English but I really enjoyed talking to her. I've learned a couple of thing from her about korean food as we are both into cooking. Thank you for the tips Jihyun-si. On that same day, we had difficulty finding a place to have our dinner as we are muslim. So we decided to have just a cup noodle but unfortunately we cant have it as it contents pork according to Mrs Kim. So we gave the cup noodle to her and in return he gave us boiled sweet potato and tea. I was so touched for the concern and care she shown us.

On the last day, I supposed to stay at her place but there was somehow a miscommunication. I had to look for other place cos there was another guest on that night. Mrs Kim help me to find a place nearby unfortunately everywhere was fully booked. In the end, she offered me to stay at her living room for free. These are some of the things she had done for me. I really appreciate the way she has treated me. I feel so much at home and I had fun with Mrs Kim and family and her sister whom I get to know during my stay. Hope I can speak korean and come back soon.... 정말 고마워요 !!!!

      Hi Jihyun,

Thank you so much for asking about our flight heading home. The flight was great as it arrived 20 minutes ahead of schedule. Both my sister and I really had a fabulous time staying with you and your family. Your son is so adorable and he seems really happy to see me on our last morning with you. We really appreciate your kindness and thoughtfulness when you offered us hot citrus tea and sweet mini oranges. They both tasted so nice it really warm our hearts on a cold day.

The only regret is we didn't get the chance to really get to know you and your family a little better as we were never home early. There're just so much to see, eat and experience in Seoul. We also missed the chance to meet your husband. But who knows, we may get another chance real soon.

This is our first visit to South Korea and we had a really good time in your lovely country. We tried everything from the street food, little snacks, super fresh seafood, bibimbap, kimbap, kimchee stew, traditional korean porridge, bulgogi, ramen and many more. They are simply delicious.

And finally, we would like to thank you for suggesting the places of attraction for us to visit during our stay with you. We managed to cover almost all the places you suggested. We even get to tried on really nice and colourful hanbok on our last day in Seoul.

Thank you once again and may you and your lovely family be blessed with good health, wealth and happiness always.

We were two female colleauges travelling together and wishing to have a Hanok experience after a conference. Despite that we arrived very late due to changes in our travel plans, Jihyun was very nice to accomodate us. Please be prepared for small conditions if you are planning to be two :-). But if you know each other well it works very fine and the hosts are super friendly. Breakfast is indeed very very good, but it is important to let her know in advance. The place is neat, and it is easy to get to/from the airport via the nearby stopping airport bus. We can recommend this place. Oh... do not forget to ask about their favorite Korean Barbeque place - a bit away, but definitely worth visiting for a bite of food (just one dish on the menu - but what a dish!!!).

My biggest regret in staying in this place was that I didn't get to meet Ji Hyun and her son because they were on vacation out of the country so If ever I will go and visit Seoul again I would want to go and visit them and get to know them more... But what was so amazing about this place was in place of Ji Hyun was her sister to welcome me, entertain me and keep me company while I stayed at their place and I felt so at home because of it :) So thank you Soo Hyun for being my new friend and partners in "crime"... Thank you for showing me how the locals lived and for going with me at night to walk around seoul and enjoy the place as only the locals would get to do it and now I feel like I found a home in Seoul... But last but not the least I chose this place because I wanted to experience the life of staying in a Hanok and this place did not disappoint at all... My room was very clean, comfy and perfect for a single individual to stay and experience life as a korean in the olden days with the exception of having 21st century plumbing.. I was so surprised on how comfortable it is to sleep on the floor and even use those tiny bean bags for pillow... I thought I wouldn't be able to sleep properly but to my pleasant surprised I slept immediately when I lie down and woke up quite refreshed! So this experience of staying in a hanok with Kim Ji Hyun's family was so worth every penny and more... Oh and the place has a perfect location as it is very near almost all the tourist attractions you want to go to... So thank you very very much Ji Hyun for your lovely home and thanks Soo Hyun for being my friend... Hope to see you again :)

My friend and I stayed at this Hanok homestay this week for two nights. If you enjoy a peaceful and hassle-free stay within a traditional Korean neighborhood, this is the home to be. First, their home is very easy to find. We got off at Anguk subway station and follow the direction that the host emailed to us. Once we saw the church steeple, we turned into an alley behind it and we found our homestay. Secondly, you get in and out of the home simply with a tap of an electronic key on the door.

The room is air-conditioned and comes with hot and cold shower. The toilet and bathroom are within a same room; though it is very small, it is very clean. The room has a 4-tier bookshelf filled with books, mostly Korean literary fiction with a few English fiction and non-fiction. For those are used to sleeping on the bed and with the room locked, a Korean traditional homestay might be challenging. We slept on the floor on Korean pillows that are hard and small. We can't lock our room but we don't mind. Rest assured, the homestay is very safe and the landlady leaves you alone (she's too busy with her cute little son and brewing coffee at home:-)

Though this is a traditional neighborhood, it is still in the city. From Anguk subway station, you can get to shopping areas like Insadong and Myeongdong easily and quickly. If you love books, you can walk to three major bookstores, YP Books, Bandi & Luni's Bookstore and Kyobo located near Gwanghwamun. The landlady loves to read and she'll tell you how to get there - in English of course.

The directions to the Hanok given by host was quite clear except for House number, it is not very visible on the exterior of the door.

Room is much smaller than expected but it is typical of a Hanok.

Host was very friendly and accommodating to our requests.

It is about a 5 min walk to the subway station and very convenient with lots of cafes and restaurants in the neighbourhood.

It was our first time visit to Korea and we decided to stay in Hanok (Korean traditional house) in Seoul because we wanted to try something different. And it turned out to be something special. Jihyun (our host) gave us a warm honey lemon tea when we arrived because the weather was quite cold also another time when we returned from a day trip tired. The room is not big but still comfortable. It has heated floor so the feeling is nice and warm. We also love meeting with their son Junkyu who always make us smiling.

A friend and I stayed with the Kims for four nights. Jihyun was very welcoming and went out of her way to help us (including getting up early to book us a taxi - thank you so much). I could not fault her hospitality. The area is lovely and the hanok is unexpectedly and delightfully quiet. My only reservation is that for two friends (ie not a couple) staying, there is only room for one yo (futon/mattress) and we also had to leave our cases outside (we had big cases for a two-week holiday). For one person or a small couple, I would recommend it higher than I have.

The Hanok is very near to Anguk subway station about 5 minutes walk. It is very convenient station to access to most shopping area like Ming dong, namdaemun, dongdaemun, etc. We had a warmth welcome from the host especially the little boy (Jun Gyu). He likes to learn writing Chinese letters or he call it drawing! :) An active little boy always showing off his Tae Keon do! Lady host Miss Jihyun (the mother) was very kind and helpful. She came to our rescue when we were lost during our way to the Hanok.
The Hanok room is cosy for two and worth to feel how Typical Korean lifestyle those days. It very quite even in the day in the room and very good for those who wants to get away from city noise! It has a heated flooring and my wife loves the blanket which eventually she went to bought a similar from Dongdeamun.

JiHyun is an amazing Korean cook, and Jun Kyu's friendliness with full of curiosities was entertaining. When I left their home, JiHyun's husband came home from his work to send me away by carrying my suitcase all the way to the taxi station. It was his extreme kindness showing to their house guest. I also could see the artistic architectural sensitive touch everywhere (by this couple's proffession) in this cute HanOk, and could feel their love for each other in their home. It was a very good stay for us. It is located near the palaces and Insadong, one of our favorite area. The family is very warm and hospitable, especially the little boy, Junkyu. Will definitely stay there again if we visit Seoul again.

It was a wonderful and interesting experience staying at the hanbok. The ladyowner and her family are nice and friendly, especially her cute son whom hugged us upon seeing us and bringing us some homemade food, which touched our heart by their hospitality. The room was heated properly, making our stay there quite comfortable. I would stay here again, if I'm making a trip back to Korea.

To stay at Jihyun's B&B is a great way to start your korean experience! The atmosphere is so friendly and warm that it feels like a home far away from home. Playing with Jun Kyu 'Lego' brought me back to my own childhood again and was so much fun. And don't miss the great korean breakfast in a traditional korean living environment.
